YOU would have to be a nark in the extreme to deny LE HEROS didn’t deserve his runaway Doomben victory on Thursday

The extremely handsome son of the Chris Waller-trained star Kermedek had compiled a handful of minor placings and you could safely make a case with better luck he might have converted those into victories.

Mark De Plessis removed all luck, apart from good luck, from the equation by landing in front on Le Heros and for the remainder of the trip the Paul Duncan gelding had his followers heading to the bar, so well was he travelling long before the finish.

Time has been a friend to Le Heros and Paul Duncan, known for his patience, is still a touch away from being satisfied his good looking charge is fully there. “He can have a short break now and you can see he will be stronger when he comes back.”

Le Heros wouldn’t need to be much stronger than his runaway Thursday victory to be successful in several grades up from maidens.
