Local trainer Paul Duncan deserves every bit of success with Atlantic Eagle with the typical patience he has shown with the lanky, slow maturing daughter of Atlante. She is now five and Sunday’s win was just her fifth visit to the races, with her record now at three wins.

Atlantic Eagle once again settled back, second last this time, but Kyle Wilson-Taylor revved her up to be in top gear around the home turn and she stormed down the outside to gather in the opposition at the 175m.

The ears were clearly pricked from the 100m and there were lengths to spare in the locker.

For a trainer who has the NZ Oaks (2400m) and the 3200m Wellington Cup among his four Gr1 victories, Paul Duncan is in no hurry to declare Atlantic Eagle’s immediate future, but you can guarantee there will be Group-rated races in it.

Another sensational ride by Kyle!

Big thanks to the loyal owners and staff; a team that are committed to doing the best they can for all the horses in the Paul Duncan stable.
