HELLBENT COLT CLOSELY RELATED TO KARAKA MILLION WINNER DYNASTIC

WOW, NOW this IS a timely purchase…
Caloundra trainer Paul Duncan picked out a gorgeous HELLBENT colt from this week’s Inglis’ Sydney Sale, beating off a raft of top-end buyers for one of the top lots.
Remember three weeks back when DYNASTIC cleared away with the million dollar KARAKA  Million 2YO at Ellerslie.
Well, the colt Paul plucked is closely related.  Meir, granddaughter of Dynastic, is a half sister to the dam of the HELLBENT colt.
If there is something you look for in a sale yearling at present it is a sign of champion broodmare sire Zabeel. It’s here in this HELLBENT colt — his dam Etoile is the product of winning Zabeel mare Mia le Fay, who left the dam of Dynastic.
The Hellbent colt reeks of Zabeel. “Look at him, he looks like you could put a saddle on him right now,” says Paul Duncan. The colt has a beautifully-moulded body. There is no waste here.
One of the under bidders was a top Australian trainer, who at the drop of the hammer made his way around the arena to find the purchaser, hoping to find a single owner looking to place the colt with a stable like his. He was disappointed to learn Paul had fought off the opposition to place the colt in his own Queensland stable.
With good reason. Champion jockey Opie Bosson raised a lot of eyebrows when he chose to ride the one-start maiden Dynastic in the Karaka Millions ahead of stablemates, dual winner Fellini and another winner Lord Cosmos.
Asked why he’d rather be in the maiden, Bosson said: “Well at the Rotorua barrier trials I pulled him into clear running in the closing stages and he gave me these beautiful long strides and I knew straight away he was a horse of huge potential. It was still a gamble I took for the big race.” But Bosson’s gut instinct which has never let him down, stood strong and when Dynastic worked into the clear in the Ellerslie home straight he put lengths on the opposition to win powerfully.
The bookmakers followed Bosson’s judgment right in and the colt started favourite ahead of his better-performed stablemates
